Nikki Smales
Hey! I'm a highly enthusiastic and spirited being! I love kids, my family, being active, the beach, the snow, good food and learning.
I'm a passionate and nurturing classroom and HPE teacher with a flair for helping kids find strength in their uniqueness and find positivity in whatever they do.
As an ex-competitive swimmer I'm bursting with determination and love a challenge!
I currently work in schools teaching yoga and wellbeing programs. I also work closely with families to educate kids about their minds and bodies and empower them with a positive mindset and healthy habits.
I thoroughly enjoy researching the latest data to support the growth of children and then plan interactive and engaging learning experiences for students.

I'm passionate about helping people learn self-regulation tools so they can better deal with the stress that arises from everyday life. Creating LIFE and Movement with Nikki was the next step for me from teaching movement, yoga and mindfulness to children. I believe that if children are given the tools to regulate emotions and develop an awareness of themselves from an early age then they will go on to become emotionally intelligent and resilient adults, able to better deal with whatever life throws at them.

After having children I left my previous career in IT and consultancy, and started teaching yoga to children, which had been my long-time dream job. I had to find ways to make yoga playful and fun for my two young children. Breathing exercises have been helpful in calming each child down, and mindfulness techniques have helped them with difficult emotions and experiences.

I currently teach children ages 2 to 17 in daycares, schools and studios, as well as adults. My programs draw from the latest research in child psychology and neuroscience, and I include yoga therapy movement in each class to target specific mind-body areas. I am inspired to help each child believe in themselves and their uniqueness. I believe that our connection to others is vital for a joyful life, and so many of my classes incorporate team or partner work, and connection-building activities.
